Beef and butter fat fast – day four

Today is my fourth day on the beef and butter fat fast.

Weight results: First thing this morning I weighed 173 7/8th lbs. Another 1/2 lb off. I’ve been consistently releasing half a pound every day which for me is wonderful and extremely motivating. I’m going to definitely keep going and somehow or another get through today as well.

The original challenge as trade marked was to do the fast for four days and then use the fifth day as the weigh-in day. I had planned at the start to do five whole days on the fast and give you a post-fast blog a few days after, but I may not do that now. I shall see how I feel tomorrow morning. That said, I think I am going to try another fat fast once this is done, possibly an egg fast, we shall see. I need to do more research and decide.

In any case, I’m really pleased with the progress so far. If you’d like to read how my other days on the fat fast have been you can read about it here.

Confession time: I must tell you that it is a hard plan to be on. I had the most awful cravings for carbs most of last evening and in the night I had the most horrible of headaches and ended up taking two Ibuprofen because of the pain and discomfort. However, once I’d taken the medication, it did ease pretty quickly.

I also for the first time on the plan had a terrible night’s sleep. I woke up twice to go to the loo and found it incredibly difficult to fall asleep all three times. But I woke up energized and ready to go this morning at 9.00 and am feeling well as I get on with my day.

Breakfast: Clean fast until 12.57. The intermittent fast was for 20 hours 19 minutes. I broke the fast with 1/2 an avocado, 2 tbsp avocado oil, 1 tsp Stevia and 1/8 tsp allspice. I really am enjoying the avocado oil a lot more than the butter. It is so much easier to digest.

Lunch: 13.45: 1 cup beef with 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil. Struggling to eat so much fat. I had no idea it would sit so heavily within me. Even substituting the olive oil for butter has made little difference in the greasiness of the beef. To settle my stomach I’ve had 10 whole almonds. I’m being super careful to count the almonds and everything else going into my stomach to be as accurate as possible.

Dinner: 15.30: I’m not cooking any more beef for the last meal of today. Instead, I am having 3 eggs with 2 tbsp of coconut oil. It is really hard, and I am struggling to eat so much fat. I have no interest in eating the eggs, and I really don’t think I’m going to be able to finish all 3 eggs. I desperately want some fruit and vegetables. And If you offered me some carbs, I’d probably give in right now and gobble it down. I’m rather grateful my other half is out for dinner tonight and won’t be home until about midnight, by which time I know I’ll have no food cravings whatsoever.

Thoughts on the four days: It is a really difficult fat fast. Eating the beef and butter is repetitive, repulsive and very difficult. And yet, I’ve lost a steady half pound in weight each day, which makes it all worth-while.

I don’t think I’m going to do a fifth day on this fat fast, but I shall make a final decision on things once I stand on the scales tomorrow morning. I do have another 500 g of uncooked minced beef in the fridge, so if I do decide to do one more day, I’ve got all the ingredients at home. The best part of each day has been closing my eating window. I truly enjoy knowing I don’t feel obligated to eat any more fat and can just fast and allow my body to go into fat burning mode.

This delight in closing my eating window is such a turn around for me. I am enjoying the relief of not having to try to eat so much fat and can just not eat and rest my body by fasting and drinking lots of lovely cool water instead. Its made me love intermittent fasting much more than I have previously.

15.56: Closing the eating window for the day with much relief.

20.55: I’ve been out this evening for our local Women’s Institute knit and natter at the pub. I didn’t feel the slightest temptation to cheat. I’m feeling very pleased with myself: no cravings, no headaches or flu-like symptoms. I think I will give this fat fast another day tomorrow.
